New In This Release

  • New Feature: The MapR Quick Installer has been updated to handle simultaneous installation across multiple nodes. Refer to the Quick Installation Guide for details.

  • New Feature: The MapR distribution for Hadoop now supports Syncsort pluggable sorting algorithms.

  • Change: The default MapReduce slot computation algorithm has been updated to improve scalability and performance.

Resolved Issues

Resolved issues are listed in the sections below.

General

  • (Issue 12108) Windows and MacOS systems do not support impersonation. The default value of ignoring impersonation for the FileClient has been set to 'true' in order to support Windows and MacOS clients.

  • (Issue 12939) Resolves a race condition that hangs the FileClient caused by multiple concurrent threads with different class loaders.

  • (Issue 13163) Resolves a crash caused by a failure to initialize thread local storage caused by multiply initializing thread local storage. Thread local storage now initializes exactly once per process.

  • (Issue 13226) Resolves a crash condition in the hoststats service.

  • (Issue 13158) Corrects the symlinks to the libsoci_mysql shared object that is used by the Job Metrics service.

  • (Issue 13615) Resolves a FileClient loop condition related to Issue 12264.

TaskTracker

  • (Issue 13723) Resolves a script error that prevented a cluster's TaskTracker from coming up after applying a 3.0.2 patch.

MapR Tables

  • (Issue 11993) Resolves a bug in the AsyncHBase client that caused errors during put operations with multiple columns per column family.

  • (Issue 13876) Resolves an MFS crash during large table loads.

  • (Issue 13873) Resolves an scan time-out issue when using filters.

  • (Issue 13479) Resolves MFS crashes related to large batches of get operations.

  • (Issue 13211) Adds a new table attribute, sizethreshpcntforpack, to configure the number of spills before a table segment is packed.

MapReduce

  • (Issue 13475) Intermediate map outputs are preserved after node failure and restart to improve job recoverability.

Fileserver

  • (Issue 12419) Fixes an error that could lead to inconsistent metadata on a volume after a user deletes a file and nodes restart before the delete operation completes.

  • (Issue 13428) Addressed by fixing Issue 10672, "Disk setup no longer fails with a permission denied error when you run configure.sh with the disk add option".

  • (Issue 13438) Resolves a condition where containers were unable to properly register with the CLDB, leading to multiple resync operations and containers becoming unavailable.

CLDB

  • (Issue 12068) Improved CLDB stability. Large clusters now start more quickly and CLDB stability is improved for clusters with hundreds of nodes and millions of containers.

  • (Issue 12352) Resolved a load-related issue with large clusters where mis-allocated RPC load by the CLDB caused missing kvstore heartbeats, leading to frequent CLDB failovers and time skew issues.

NFS

  • (Issue 12613) Resolves an issue where the NFS server does not set isremote to true for remote write requests, leading to the MFS attempting to use shared memory, which results in an EINVAL error.

  • (Issue 12989) Resolves a segmentation fault caused by improper handling of log messages.

MapR Control System

  • (Issue 11954) The MCS UI now enables selection of multiple disks at once.

  • (Issue 13454) Resolves an issue where the JobTracker UI became unavailable when a job exceeded the limit on job counters or counter groups. The JobTracker UI now continues to be available, but counters for the job that has exceeded the limits remain unavailable.

  • (Issue 13434) Remote cluster links now display and operate correctly in the MCS UI.

  • (Issue 12857) Corrects the UI display of new services that are managed by the Warden daemon.
