New In This Release

  • New Feature: Bulk Load operations are now supported for MapR tables.

  • New Feature: Secure clusters now support mirror volumes.

  • New Feature: Generalized the OEM management framework for partners.

Resolved Issues

Resolved issues are listed in the sections below.

General

  • (Issue 12671) Non-log files that were formerly stored in /opt/mapr/logs  are now stored in /opt/mapr/server/data or /opt/mapr/pid.

  • (Issue 14025) The HADOOP_VERSION parameter in the /opt/mapr/server/configure-common.sh script for the mapr-client package no longer causes the configure.sh command to fail.

  • (Issue 12656) Resolves a spurious warning from the configure.sh script regarding database connection URLs.

  • (Issue 7083) MapR packages are now GPG signed.

  • (Issue 13307) The configure.sh script now correctly sets the MapR user’s group membership for shadow on SUSE systems.

  • (Issue 13185) The mapr-jobtracker package now correctly lists a dependency on mapr-fileserver.

  • (Issue 13245) Volumes listed by the hadoop fs -ls command now properly display the directory attribute.

MapR Tables

  • (Issue 13976) Resolves a crash related to filter initialization.

  • (Issue 13606 and 13211) Adds the maxspills and minipack attributes to the maprcli table attr commands to enable configuration of maximum spills before segment packing and to control whether minicompactions are disabled.

  • (Issue 13505) Improves MapR tables’ CPU efficiency for increased performance.

  • (Issue 13949) Resolves a crash related to segmap deletion.

  • (Issue 13613) MapR clients version 3.1.0 can now create MapR tables on MapR clusters running version 3.0.2.

MapReduce

  • (Issue 14004) Resolves a configuration error that interfered with Oozie workflows, causing null pointer exceptions.

  • (Issue 12891) Resolves an error with the DFSCIO unit test

  • (Issue 14024) Old versions of log4j JAR files are now removed, resolving errors caused by multiple log4j JAR files present.

Fileserver

  • (Issue 12859) Fixes a user permissions check problem that prevented users in multiple groups from using some hadoop fs commands.

  • (Issue 13050) Fixes a disk error condition caused by incorrect CRC calculations.

  • (Issue 13994) Imports fix for Issue 12419. Fixes an error that could lead to inconsistent metadata on a volume after a user deletes a file and nodes restart before the delete operation completes.

  • (Issue 13042) Resolves a memory leak condition in MapR tables.

  • (Issue 13636) Hostnames with IP addresses that are not included in the MAPR_SUBNETS setting now properly return disk information with the DISK_LIST remote procedure call (RPC).

Fileclient

  • (Issue 13556) Resolves a JVM crash resulting from attempting to free memory more than once.

  • (Issue 13657) Improves fileclient tracing by adding thread LWP information to the log.

  • (Issue 13984) Resolves an IOException error caused by a spurious report of multiple concurrent cluster access.

  • (Issue 11140) The fileclient now supports file IDs larger than 231.

  • (Issue 12644) The hadoop fs -cp command now supports copying multiple local files at once within a local filesystem.

Installer

  • (Issue 14056) Resolves a condition where the installer did not identify existing partitions during the pre-requisite check.

Alarms

  • (Issue 10818) The NODE_ALARM_METRICS_WRITE_PROBLEM alarm is no longer raised on nodes that do not have the fileserver role installed.

CLDB

  • (Issue 13473) Ganglia metrics for the CLDB now report memory in GB instead of TB.

  • (Issue 13777) Resolves an issue that resulted in some volumes being unable to be deleted or re-created after a disk failure.

  • (Issue 13005) Resolves spurious heartbeat alarms from NFS nodes.

NFS

  • (Issue 13515) Fixes an error with NFS exports on secure MapR clusters.

  • (Issue 9650) NFS exports now correctly recognize subnets in CIDR notation,.

  • (Issue 13700) Improved error reporting and handling for MapR NFS for enhanced performance.

  • (Issue 14022) RPC calls in NFS now support long hostnames.

MapR Control System

  • (Issue 9892) When you configure NFS with Virtual IP assignments on a host with Infiniband (IB) interfaces, the MAC addresses of the IB interfaces appear correctly in the MapR Control System.

  • (Issue 13480) Users can now enable and disable notifications from the MCS alerts tab.

  • (Issue 13729) Links to secondary nodes in the MCS table details display now work correctly.

  • (Issue 12902) Replication information displayed in the detailed volume view now shows actual replication in addition to minimum and desired replication levels.

  • (Issue 13090) The MapR Control System now properly supports the display of new pluggable services.

Webserver

  • (Issue 14071) Increased security for REST API calls.

  • (Issue 14108) Improved access control checks for some volume operations.

  • (Issue 13458) Miscellaneous security improvements.

Warden

  • (Issue 11606) By default, the log.retention.exceptions parameter in warden.conf now lists the following files to prevent Warden from removing them, or any log files that contain these listed exceptions in their names, during log file clean up:

    • cldb.log

    • mfs.log-3

    • mfs.log-5

    • hoststats.log

  • (Issue 13121) The service.command.mfs.heapsize.maxpercent setting now correctly limits the amount of memory reserved for the MapR filesystem.

Known Issues

General

  • (Issue 13611) When you launch a MapR installation from a SuSE node, the installation fails, and the system displays the following error:
ERROR:root:code for hash md5 was not found
Workaround: Issue the following command to create a symbolic link named libssl.so.10 that points to libssl.so.0.9.8 under /usr/lib64:
    cd /usr/lib64
    ln -s libssl.so.0.9.8 libssl.so.10
